Coastal Children's Clinic was established in 1953 by Dr. Graham A. Barden, Jr. which was then one of the few pediatric practices in Eastern NC and the only one East of Kinston. Dr. Barden was joined in 1963 by Dr. Hovey E. Aiken, Jr. Together, they built a practice that became well-known in Eastern North Carolina for providing the highest quality care to the children of this area. Over the years, Coastal Children's Clinic has continued to grow and establish itself as a leader in pediatric care in Craven County and surrounding areas.

Today, the staff of Coastal Children's Clinic take great pride in continuing to fulfill our mission of providing excellent quality care to infants, children and adolescents.  We are absolutely committed to providing the best care possible for our patients.  We demonstrate our commitment by being the only pediatric practice in the area open 7 days a week - we are only closed 7 days a year!  We specialize in general pediatrics, providing both sick and well care for ages birth through 18 years. In addition to treating a wide variety of illnesses, we also provide treatment of minor injuries, including lacerations and burns. Our physicians are certified by the American Board of Pediatrics or are Board-Eligible, and are current Fellows of the American Academy of Pediatrics. They are also active staff members at Craven Regional Medical Center in New Bern. Our practice is also enhanced by a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner and a Pediatric Physician Assistant who have been trained to diagnose and treat common pediatric problems, and to perform well child care.
