Welcome to Coastal Children’s Clinic where we have been providing excellence in pediatric care for over 60 years. As you entrust us with the care of those who are most precious to you, we strive to honor that trust at every opportunity.
Coastal Children's Clinic provides both sick and well care for children from birth to age 21. We offer same-day sick appointments and always welcome new patients. We treat a variety of illnesses and conditions, as well as minor injuries, lacerations and burns.
Health issues and events don't always happen during office hours so we pride ourselves on being the most available practice in the area. We have office hours 7 days a week in our New Bern office and five days a week in our Havelock and Maysville offices. Additionally, someone is available 24 hours-a-day, 7 days-a-week, 365 days-a-year to take your call and offer guidance. We are committed to being a part of your children's lives, 24/7
Our entire staff has been trained to be sensitive to the special needs of children, and our offices are designed to be child and parent friendly. We are privileged to serve as a resource to parents, helping them become more comfortable and confident in dealing with the vast array of issues (and adventures!) presented daily in caring for children. We stongely believe in the importance of prevention, continuity of care and evidence-based medicine.
Coastal Children's Clinic was established in 1953 by Dr. Graham A. Barden, Jr., as one of the few pediatric practices in eastern North Carolina, and the only one east of Kinston. In 1963, he was joined by Dr. Hovey E. Aiken, Jr., with whom he built a reputation for providing the highest quality pediatric medical care to the children in eastern North Carolina. Through the years, Coastal Children's Clinic has grown, touching the lives of several generations of families with comprehensive pediatric medical care.
In 1982, Coastal Children’s Clinic expanded its reach by opening an additional office in Havelock, NC. Three years later, Dr. Barden’s son, Dr. Graham Barden, III joined the practice. In July of 1990, Dr. Calvin G. Warren, Jr. joined Coastal Children’s Clinic. Four years later, Dr. Greg G. Gunsten joined the practice.
Due to expanded demand, on October 1, 2000 Coastal Children’s Clinic opened the Maysville Clinic. Since 2000 Coastal Children’s Clinic added Dr. Lee Ann Skladan in 2002, Dr. C. Marston Crawford in July of 2003, Dr. Lisa Kafer in December of 2003, Dr. Benjamin J. Copeland in 2004, Dr. Tolly W. Garrett in 2001 and then again in 2007, and Dr. David Tayloe, III in September of 2010. Kelly Grove, DO joined the practice part time in February 2013
